Hi

Hi Everyone, just wondering how everyone is doing in isolation?

Are you keeping yourselves entertained at home or are you going crazy already?

Since the stay at home order in California I've been out only 3 times and I'm going crazy.. Don't get me wrong, I do go out and walk my dog. I also do things around the house, so I'm not bored at all. I'm just going crazy because I can't see my sisters..

Sure it's not fun always seeing them 🤣 but it's the fact on visiting them.

I got sick early on and was just able to end quarantine when the world went insane and decided that shutting down our entire civilization is a better idea.  I have been isolated since the last week of February and now its at least the end of this month before we see anything resembling normalcy again.  Knowing my luck I will be having surgery about then and it will be even longer before I can do anything.   They are saying 18 months to two years.  This is not a sustainable way of life for that length of time.

Where are you from Bearkat419? I'm sorry you got sick, stupid question, but was it the famous virus? If so, how did you get better? I know self quarantine. But they've been saying anyone with heart disease is on top of everything else.

Your cardiologist is still taking patients? That's crazy. Well, not really if you need the surgery.

My cardiologist is at UCSF, was supposed to have an appt on the 15th, but since they're on lockdown. I'm having a video chart with him, woohoo lol..

I hope everything goes well for you..

Staying Home

DW has always been an exercise fanatic.  With the shutdown of EVERYTHING around here (fitness center, etc) and the dismal weather lately, the best move we've made is ordered a "Marcy" brand recumbent bike. Works like a charm and priced right from Amazon.  I spend around 1 hour daily on it and cover 10 - 14 miles.  My wild spouse will spend XXX number of hours on it, and cover around 30 - 40 miles - Then, with a break in the weather, she'll go for a 5 miles walk outdoors. ------

keeping sane

So far, so good here, but I've made a concious effort to stay busy. We've been staying at home since it was first recommended so this is week 4. Even being careful, I still ended up with low grade symptoms for over a week (low fever, mild cough, mild headache). I was doing very limited runs out, like for groceries and to take the dog to the vet, before I got sick, absolutely nothing after. The fever broke a week ago but I am still assuming I am contagious so have not been anywhere. It's ridiculous how badly I want to go to the grocery store and pick out my own produce!

How I've been keeping sane...

-I go for a run or take a walk every day, usually at least an hour. I make a big circle if anyone comes the other way on the sidewalk, I don't wait for them to get out of my way.

-My gym has been doing classes via zoom, workouts modified so we can do them without equipment. I'm finally feeling up to doing them and even that much contact with my gym buddies brings up my mood. Yesterday they threw in an extra yoga class which felt sooooo good after so much sitting around. Lots of places are offering classes on youtube.

-Happy hour with one or two friends. I sat in a lawn chair in front of the house, my friend sat in her trunk far enough away that we could talk without yelling but well over 6'. I found a place to play Cards Against Humanity online so that will be our next happy hour.

-I made a list of projects I've been meaning to get around to and have been doing something from the list every day, even if I only spend a few minutes on it. It feels pretty good to cross things off.

-Every day I text/call at least 5 people to check on them

-I ordered some craft supplies from Joann, was able to order online and pick it up curbside so now I have some new projects to play with and I got what I need to refinish these two cute little tables my grandma gave me (that's on the backburner list). I have a coloring book I dug out and also ordered some puzzles and guide books for a trip I'm planning in the fall.

One thing I do not do is watch tv. It's way too easy to get sucked in and never get off the sofa and I limit news.

So, I would suggest make your own list. What would make you feel like you accomplisedh something? What would lift your spirits? What would burn some energy?

I have a list of online resources of things currently being offered for free, like virtual tours and classes. Will find it and add it to this post.

Outside?

by AgentX86 - 2020-04-06 15:53:33

I just walked inside after a 6-1/2 mile walk (second today). There is a "shelter in place" order here too but it's not enforced, nor could it be. Too many loopholes.

I'm still working, though so far at home. I'm supposed to go in two days a week but management has such a complicated process in place to guarantee social distance that no one can figure it out. I've gone in twice to find I'm locked out and no one (even the execs) can figure tomorrow's schedule out. There is a lesson in here:  never., ever, have executive management design processes.

Unproven

If my choice was taking a well known drug, a drug that's been around for three-quarters of a century, or more, and with very well known side effects, or perhaps choosing death, I think I know which one I'd choose but you're free to die because your hate exceeds your intelligence.

You know you're wired when...

You can proudly say youÂ’re energy efficient.
