Incision still bleeding

Hi, my mom had a pm in Sept.06 then in Dec. 06 she had to have it removed due to leads misplaced and major infection. A week later she had another pm put in on her right side and now here it is April.07 and she is still having blood coming from the new site. I'm wondering if it is possible that her body is rejecting the pm or if there is some major infection going on inside.

Still Bleeding

I’m reluctant to mention this but six months is a long time to still have bleeding so here goes anyway.

I’m sure you know the leads from the pacemaker go into a blood vessel and on to the heart. Normally a blood vessel will close up quickly (think of when we have blood drawn for tests) but if it were mine I would want someone to check the entry point of the lead into the blood vessel to be sure that is not the source of a leak. Also, if you mom is taking any blood thinners that could contribute to continued bleeding,

Frankly, I’ve never heard of such problem, but I learn something new every day.

I wish your mom the best.

Hi my mom finally got admitted into hospital and is on IV meds gentamycin and vancomycin, hopefully this will clear up an obvious infection.

Hi, just an update, my mom continues to receive IV therapy and we are still keeping our fingers crossed that the medication will do the trick.

You know you're wired when...

You have a new body part.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
