I had a 6-month follow-up with my top notch plumber cardiologist a cuple days ago. His advice re: COVID19: "This virus will be around for the next 2+ years. If you have any surgery/whatever events planned, watch your local COVID19 rate chart and plan your move(s) for when the rates are decreasing, not increasing. Late summer this year may be an ideal time for your planned epicardial lead insertion. Next fall and winter could be very interesting, like it was in 1918."

...last week.
That's exactly my point. We can only know what this virus is going to do when it's in the rearview mirror. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool. Anyone who makes life decisions...

So........ the 1918 flu was a fluke and a like event will never happen again, right? Anyone who picks a hospital stay while the current trend is upwards.........be my guest! The 1918 flu had waned early summer of 1918 -- everyone was - as you say - looking in the review mirror. Then late fall 1918 the virus erupted and came back with a vengence. Too late for any rear view mirror guided prognostications.

Logic obviously isn't your strong suit. (neither is current events)

Logic is listening to a qualified Doc, not anyone - like you - on this website.
Even more sillyness.

Um, 1918 is in the rearview mirror. 2022 is not. Get it now?
An appeal to authority is your second logical fallacy, BTW. When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

Dave, thank you for sharing with us your cardiologist’s views. It takes time and effort to write and all posts should be respected.
Yes making any plans at all with this virus around is proving very difficult but some of us will need urgent healthcare during its lifetime and so a decision will have to be made on when it might be the best time to act. Your cardiologist’s view seems perfectly valid and sensible to me Dave. I am glad you have confidence in his ability to help you medically; that is what really matters. Hopefully you will remain safe during your epicardial lead insertion, whenever that might be. In the meantime, try to build a strong immune system which is our best defense

I thought your post was like a breath of fresh air.
I find it sad that that the always opinionated Agent X86 lapses into hypercritical , troll-like mode , at every opportunity.
Dave raises real issues regarding sourcing healthcare in the middle of a virus pandemic and I agree that his contribution deserves respect.

My foot. He raised nothing but speculation and ignorance. Not useful. I'm sorry that you're so thin-skinned that you can't take disagreement.
You know you're wired when...
You have a maintenance schedule just like your car.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!

Does your cardiologist have any hot stock tips?
