Hey,
I had my pacemaker replaced on May 7, and have had the normal soreness afterwards. But now, almost two weeks post op, I randomly get a little dull pain that doesn't last more than a few seconds, and usually goes away when I readjust my arm, but sometimes not. I was wondering if anyone else got this pain post op and if it is just normal during recovery and it's just the pacemaker and new leads settling in.

Post PM pain

You are STILL in the very early stages of recovery & could experience some aches & pains/soreness for many months yet! I had mine implanted 8 months ago & can now say it is'nt sore any more! I still get flutters but a PM will not cure those unfortunately.
If you experience something really scary or persistent , then I wouldnt hesitate in seeking help from your GP,Pacing team or A & E dept. Best wishes on your road to recovery.
Thanks!

Thank you guys for the feedback! I've actually had a pacemaker since I was 8 years old, but have had it in my abdomen until recently. This is the first one they've put near the collarbone, so I'm trying to figure out my new new normal haha.
I really apprrappre the feedback. Thank you so much!
know the feeling

Hi! To me your description sounds very familiar. I got my second pacemaker about a year ago and the healing was much faster than the first time (I had both near the collarbone). Still I had his sudden sting near the pacemaker site for many months. Not too often and not like unbearable pain but definitely feelable and usually combined with some movement of arm or shoulder. However, I just realised reading your post that I haven´t felt it in at least a couple of months now. So to me it seems like your it is part of growing into the new normal. Now after a year I hardly feel the pacemaker + site at all, exept when I do excessive gardening like these days ;) Good luck with everything!
Soreness

Had my PM since 5/1 and still have a little sorness. Most of my issues are related to mental acceptance and future activities. I am an avid sheet shooter and cannot to start again.

5/1 is only a few weeks. It'll get better with every week, unless you do too much. Then it'll only hurt a little more (ice and/or ibuprofen work well). You're not likely to do any damage at this point.
Are you saying that you can't wait to start again? Unless you're left handed, you should be good to go in a week or so. It probably wouldn't hurt now. Well, it might hurt but it won't likely do any damage.
Wow! 82YO?! Good luck. Hope you get back to bustin' clay soon.
perfectly normal

This is all perfectly normal. I am on my fifth device, so you started at 8 how many did you have before this one, one in the abdomon and this is the second? Anyway, at this point it is sometimes amusing. Days after, go to take a big bite of something, pulls the skin, skin pulls at the site, quick shot of pain, fraction of a second. makes me giggle and hurt at the same time.
Every day it gets a little better so long as you dont hold your shoulder stiff and not move it. The pain will guide you as to how much you can do that day. Some things take longer than others, sleeping, vs sleeping on that side. Washing your hair using that arm. Driving. Getting dressed. And no two people and no two pacer recoveries are the same with each new one, okay I am a pro now, ouch, nope im not a pro now...Overall it takes weeks to get back to "normal".

I am no expert, but I believe that without the defibrillator that I have, I would be dead.

It's normal to get random aches and pains for weeks, sometimes months, after.
