Anxiety

Hi,
I was shocked 3 times (2 which were apparently not necessary) after sprinting down a hallway and then down some stairs. I believe I passed out for a split second before the first shock because I didn't feel the first one.
I've been to the hospital and they have tweaked some settings but I'm extremely anxious and worried all the time now that my heart rate will all of the sudden jump and I'll pass out and be shocked. It feels like I have constant butterflies in my heart. I'm really not sure how to deal with this, no one should have to live this way in constant fear.

One shock WAS necessary. That's the one that kept you alive to feel the butterflies. There may be other problems to be attended to. By all means bring them to your doctor's attention and work towards the best life you can have. But let's face it dude, you're gonna die one day, and things are probably gonna get a lot worse before you do. Personally, I chose to live every day until finally I die rather than to die every day until I finally quit living.

Anxiety and depression are somewhat normal following a cardiac event. The shrinks have about twenty theories about that. They will tell you about them for $100.00 an hour. Now THAT will put fear in your heart. Just try not to let your fear run away with you man. If you pass out, you can't feel the shock. you wake up alive. No big deal!!! WIthout the ICD PM, you pass out, your heart quits, you don't get shocked, and you never know about it. YOU"RE DEAD. Learn to love your little energizer bunny!!!! Keep the faith!!!

And by all means, keep talking to us. We'll blow enuf smoke up your but to get you high on life. LOL

Best wishes - Dave
