I'm trying to find a doctor that actually HAS a pacemaker. I literally cannot find one in the state of California.
Can anyone refer me to a GP (or Cardiologist preferably) that actually has one of these?

I'm not sure they'd tell you that they had one, even if they did. I can't imagine that they'd advertise it (HIPPA and all that). That said, Gemita is right on. Find a doctor you're comfortable with and trust. They are out there. I had a really good PCP who knew everyone and directed me to the "best" cardiologist who, in turn, directed me to a really good thoracic surgeon and then EP1, in his practice (not a surgeon). When it was clear that I needed a surgeon (ablation) he referred me to an excellent EP in a smajor teaching hospital. If you can't trust your doctor, find another.

Why does finding a doctor with a PM needed? There are many things these things can take away. You need to find a great doctor that knows PMs. Where do you live? I live in Cali
A doctor with a pacemaker is not better than a doctor without

I'm sure there are some medical doctors in Callfornia who have pacemakers, but I can't imagine how you would learn of them except through word of mouth, i.e. gossip.
Like others. I wonder exactly what difference it would make. A pacemaker doesn't have muich to do with whether a person is kind, or empathetic, or smart. A pacemaker cerainly won't make a person a better listener.
Rather than hunt for a needle in a haystack, a better option would be to sit down with a friend and get clear about what kind of help you are looking for. Spell out what you're not getting from your doctor now, and what you wish you could get.

Having gone through two doctors that I felt weren't empathetic, attentive or one didn't seem concerned, I also think that if they had to go through it themselves they might have more empathy. My fear now is that if I have to go to a third doctor he might assume it must be a problem with me. Plus this is a small town where I am sure all these doctors know each other or are practicing in the same group so won't see a patient from their cohorts.

Thank you for your thoughtful reponses, but I simply cannot communicate what is taking place with this device to any physician that has not dismissed my concern as "psychological" -- it's an insult added to an injury that is gotten worse.
There is no law or obligation to a physician to report an adverse effect from any medical device, I was truly stunned to learn this. This seems to guide their apathy.

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didnt slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
Finding a doctor who understands ?

Hello tooyoungforthis,
Care to share with us the difficulties you are having with pacing? There may be doctors, or former doctors on this site who can offer advice.
Have you tried seeing another doctor for a different opinion ? I expect you have. I did and it changed the course of my treatment and for the better. I often think to myself if my doctors had to live with my difficulties I wonder how well they would cope ? Not very well I suspect.
It is so important to find a doctor we feel "comfortable" with, someone we can trust and who has time to explain to us with compassion what our options are. It can make all the difference to the outcome. I do hope you will find such a doctor and that you can move forward with confidence
