E bike sounds ideal

Hello TMAC,
What a wonderful age to be riding an E bike. We have a friend who is touching 90 and still cycling everywhere, preferring to leave the car at home. Hubby is 81 and has just acquired a bike from a neighbour, but I think he needs an E bike because he is struggling a bit with the gears and I do worry about him on the roads since we live fairly close to London in the UK and traffic can be heavy.
Hubby has a pacemaker too and his cardiologist knows all about his activities and is quite amazed that he is willing and able to keep active with a history of heart and lung disease and strokes. Actually i firmly believe keeping active mentally and physically has kept him going but it wears me down when he keeps coming home with scratches and bruises !!
I see no reason why you should be concerned about cycling with your pacemaker in the future, but I would give yourself as CyborMike has said adequate time to recover from your implant procedure first, but don't stop gentle exercise in the meantime. When you do start cycling, start slowly and don't ever push too hard, too quickly. Pace yourself always is my best advice to stay well. I would also let your doctors know (if you haven't already done so) about your activities, so that they will understand your energy requirements for any changes to pacemaker settings. Many cardiologists assume when we reach 80+ we might be winding down or less active (probably the norm) so they might not set our pacemakers to respond to our higher energy needs unless we tell them what we need.
Welcome to the pacemaker world. I hope you will benefit from your little device as much as we both do
Not at all! I have had one since I got my PM

I actually got mine to exercise after I got my PM. The battery is nowhere near your PM and nowhere near large enough to interfere. E-bikes are amazing!
You know you're wired when...
Batteries not included takes on a new meaning.

A pacemaker suddenly quitting is no more likely to happen than you are to be struck by lightening.
get back on that electric horse... in a while.

Nope. I'll hitch a ride on an ebike on occasion. No conflicts with the PM.
That said... wait until your EP clears you for physical activity. Usually 6-12 weeks. Full recovery takes a while. You don't want to take a header and open that wound up.
