CAN I TELL IF MY PM IS PULSING?

4 weeks in with a pacemaker.

occasionally I feel a couple of "jolts" or tingling near the implant site and I wonder if the pm is pulsing / sending an electrical signal. No other symptoms just a tingling feeling. Is this normal? Can it be the PM pulsing?

shares insights appreciated.

thanks.

Twinges/jolts from the PM site are common in the early days

It's very common to feel twinges of pain or jolts from the PM pocket for some weeks after implantation, and although they can be unpleasant, they shouldn't be a cause for concern.

With the older unipolar leads the metal can of the PM was one half of the electrical circuit and this sometimes produced an electrical tingle at the PM site.  Hardly anyone uses unipolar leads these days.

In the BostonSci PMs with Minute Ventilation the PM can is *still* an electrical contact for the chest impedance measurement, *but* they've designed it so that the AC signal used *cannot* produce an activation potential for heart or other muscle.  You've Medtronic.

It's probably the PM pocket.

We get all sorts of weird aches, pains, zings, tingling as things heal.

Three Months In and Still Get Them

I was told I am not getting jolts and the pacemaker isn't causing whatever it is, but I do get them, as well as pin prics that shoot down arms and such. Had mine put in three months ago.
