Pacemaker change

Hi. I've just had my first PM change after 8.5 years, I am male and 73 years old, and would appreciate any comments. I have gone from a Sorin Reply DR to a Boston Scientific Proponent L211, which seems physically slightly larger. I have been a little spooked by some of the comments on the internet regarding the Boston Scientific I am now using, so any comments about their performance would be welcome. Hope some of the experts on here can give me some reassurance. Many thanks in advance, Roy.

Good product, lots of useful features, good vendor support

Proponent(TM) is part of the BostonSci bradycardia PM family and has two sensors which feed into Rate Response (as does Sorin).  Your model is a dual-chamber, so useful for SA-node failure and CHB, projected lifespan between 8.5 and 10.5years.

AFAIK, *all* of the PM vendors have had issues, problems with their PMs - premature battery failure, security issues, lead problems - check the FDA website for more details.

What bad things have you heard?  I have Accolade, but don't have a feature-by-feature comparison to hand.  Mine works fine and does exactly what I need it to.  What does a PM need to do for you?

don't believe everything you read

Unhappy people are a lot more likely to be online talking than the happy ones. There are no bad pacers, most people can't tell the difference as the differences are subtle. As crusty pointed out, every single one of them has had problems at one time or another. Boston has a more sophisticated rate response than Medtronic or Abbot/SJM.
