Want to run marathon.

I had got my PM Apr 30, 2007. I want to know how soon anyone started running 5k or more in distance? How much improvement should I expect. I am excited about the prospect of how fast I will be running.

hello friend,
I got my pm 7 weeks ago. It was less than a month before I was going to do my 1st marathon. My doctor told me to to start running a week after it was in. I was up to 6 miles in less than 2 weeks when the nurse called me and told me it would be prudent to stop running for 6 weeks. I did a 7 miler then stopped. I'm starting back now and it is tough for me to do 3 miles. It could be the 10 pounds I have gained, or it could be the 80 plus degrees(it was in the 50's when I stopped). So I'm trying to do 3 miles several days a week and praying I Improve over time. My chest aches a little when I'm done. The down time is a good chance to stretch and do some strength training for your legs.
I'm signing up for a 5 miler on memorial day.
Be patient, very patient. It is a blessing to even run.
take care,
Rusty

I resumed running some six weeks after the implant. Also, you can ask to adjust the rate response higher if you find a little short of breath at higher speed. It took several adjustment for me to get to where I am comfortable. I think that after a while you will not even be aware that you have a pacemaker.
Good Luck
