Depends on why you need an ICD

*Some* of the conditions that make an ICD sensible are associated with a greatly increased risk of VF if you push too hard (although the most serious turn up in teens or 20s, and you're past that).
So, as Tracey_E wisely says, this one is definitely for discussion with your EP-doc. And, with luck, your EP-doc will understand that no exercise might well be existing, but not really living - for *you*. It's not easy to let go, and almost everyone gets a lot of benefit from exercise, even if not running up the Fells at your accustomed pace.

pushing hard

The first thing to do is ask your doctor how hard he wants you to push. Simply having the device isn't a reason to hold back, but the underlying reason why you have it might be a reason not to go all out.
