I have a chance to get a Covid Vaccine 8 days after my Pacemaker (2/1/2021). Does anyone know if it is safe to get the vaccine approximately a week after surgery?
Thanks

I cannot see a problem

Hello Anna, the only questions that I was asked when I attended the vaccination centre were:
. have I ever had a severe allergic reaction or breathing problems after any other vaccine?
. Do I have a severe illness or high fever? (A mild fever or upper airway infection, like the common cold, are not reasons to delay vaccination)
. A weakened immune system, such as due to HIV infection, or are on meds that affects immune system.
. A bleeding problem, bruise easily or use a medicine to inhibit blood clotting. I am on anticoagulation but this did not prevent me from getting my vaccine.
They wanted to know if I had had any other vaccine recently. I gave them a list of my medication.
They were not interested in my pacemaker or the reason for my pacemaker. I believe it is perfectly safe for you to go ahead and in any event they will question you and make sure that it is safe for you before they give you the vaccine. You could run it past your cardiologist/general doctor as doublehorn48 says, particularly if you have any chronic health conditions or are immunocompromised but I cannot see any reason why you shouldn’t go ahead, particularly if your implant surgery went so well, with no sign of any complications or an infection and you feel okay?

There shouldn't be any problem at all. The only relevant question I was asked was about anticoagulants. I told them that I was on Eliquis and they weren't interested anymore. I'd suggest that you have them give it to you in the opposite arm. It can get pretty sore and you have enough of that on your left (I assume) side.

Thanks so much for your comments. I think I will be fine getting it. I'm feeling great to only be three days post op.
Pacemaker will not stand in the way

When it comes to Covid19 vaccination, pacemakers are a non-issue.
I had my second shot yesterday. They asked about allergies, taking blood thinners, pregnant, immune compromised or taking immunosuppressant drugs, have fever or Covid symptoms, and any recent vaccinations.
They don't even ask about pacemakers or heart disease or arrythmias.

I had my second covid shot on Wednesday noon and had pacemaker battery change surguery next morning. Also had a chatarizatoin with the pacer change. Did fine with both. I never ever questioned having shoot an surgery close together. I am fine a week later.

If I were you I would call my cardiologist and ask. I know you aren't suppose to take advil or tylenol before getting the vaccine. Again, I'd call.
