I'm curious what your % of use is?? I just had a device check today after a pocket revision (whole different story/post) and mine is 76%. I was just curious how that stacks up to others.

%?

Regardless of percentage, what matters is that you're being paced as much as you need.
I've paced from a low of 34% to the current high of 100% atrium, 14% ventricle. The pecentage paced makes 0% diference to how I feel. And in the end, that's all I care about.

My every beat is paced. Without my pacemaker it doesn't. I have no atrial pacing (no atrial function), all ventricle. There are a number of people here who are "dependent".

Ya, it's just something my son and I wager on when I go in. My EP told me some poeple pace at 1% and others at 100%, so I was just curious.

I just got my PM in May of 2020 for intermittent 2nd and 3rd degree heart block. Four weeks later my Ventricle pacing was 93.7 %and Atrial pacing was 5.9%
In October,2020 it was AP 18.1% and VP 12.3%.
January, 2021 it was VP 0.2% and AP 14.8%. My EP says it’s all about just settling in and my heart getting used to the PM. He also said the numbers will change every time and so far he’s been right !!

Hi, my setting is 70 bpm , percentage is 95%, upper, my lower is only 1%.
I have bradycardia , so my bpm is almost always below 70, before the pacemaker my resting was as low as 25bom. Usually about 40.

As your EP said, 1% to 100% is normal! I pace 4% atrial, 100% ventricle. If we feel good, we are pacing the right amount.

Sick sinus syndrome here- tachy-brady.
Atrial pacing rates have been in the low-mid 90's pretty much since I got the pacemaker. Ventricular pacing has been around 1% or less.

It's relatively simple to figure out pacing rates. A high atrial rate and a low ventricular rate says that the SI node is weak (SSS) and the AV node is fine. The pulse isn't getting started but once it's started, it has no trouble getting to where it needs to go (the ventricles).
A low atrial rate and a high ventricular rate is just the opposite. The pacing pulse is being generated by the SI node just fine but it's not getting to where it's supposed to go (i.e. heart block).
The above are the extremes/ For most, you'll have to mix and match these to get the complete picture. A lowish atrial rate and a lower ventricular percentage may just mean that the SI node is weak and just needs a little help once in a while. The same sort of thing can happen with heart block. It doesn't have to be complete.
A pacemaker is needed when a pacemaker is needed. The percentages don't mean much. Indeed the percentages can change drastically if the heart rate is changed. A higher PM induced rate will allow fewer natural beats because the PM gets there first and the heart doesn't have a chance.

I had an ICD implanted 11 months ago. I went in to the pacemaker clinic here and I was pacing high around 90%. My resting heart rate has always been low and the pacing was set higher than my usual resting heart rate so I asked to have the pacing lowered to my resting heart rate and that made a huge difference. Now my heart function feels better and I'm not killing the battery. I don't know if I had kept it as is would the battery have ran out much sooner? Dunno. Hope this helped
Settings can make a big difference

Another important aspect of % pacing is the settings.
If you do not have anything wrong with your sinus node but your minimum heart rate is set higher than your resting heart rate then you may have quite a high atrial pacing %. This could drop dramatically for quite a moderate change in lower setting.
If you have first degree heart block (a long delay between atrial signal and ventricle beat) and second degree heart block then depending on the settings you could be ventricular pacing much higher than necessary. This will depend on the degree of both those blocks and the settings.
I have (currently) nothing wrong with my sinus node but at my first follow up appointment with the technicians I was pacing 23% atrial. The minimum heart rate has now been moved from 60 to 40bpm so I would expect that at my next check the atrial percentage has changed from 23% to nearer 0%. My resting heart rate seems to float between 50 and 60.

I have complete heart block so as expected both ventrical leads are at 100%. Does not mean they cant turn off the leads and I stop pacing as they do that every check (and I so far I have not died). In fact the last visit (a while now due to covid) the main tech was training another person and showed her what the ekg looks like for heart block (trivial to see).
100% is expected for me and that is what it shows.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.

Hi TRAJAC - I hope you're feeling OK after your recent experience. The pacing % is not something I've focused on since I feel well with my PM of 3 years, but referencing my last EP report: 100% paced in the RV, 50% atrial.
