Boston Guidant pacemaker?

2 weeks after surgery, today I received the "card" with pacemaker details and it says I have a Boston Guidant pacemaker? I can only see Boston scientific on Google. When I did a search on this website nothing came up. I find it worrying that I have something not in the wider community. Has anyone else had this model ?

Sandoval, I see Guidant Corporation is part of Boston Scientific and Abbott Labs.  If you do a search here under Guidant, you will find some members with a Guidant pacemaker.

Not really sure what this means for you and what the difference is between a Boston Scientific and Boston Guidant pacemaker and which is better?

I did look Gemita and it doesn't look good although there aren't many posts so hard to know - if it worked ok you wouldn't post I guess.

Please don’t stress

Yes those are old posts sorry.  But I see recent members have got a Boston Scientific/Guidant so you are in good company and please don't worry!  Hopefully they will give reassuring news soon Sandoval.

Boston Sci bought Guidant and split it with Abbott Labs, IIRC

The Minute Ventilation technology came from Guidant (based in Belgium, lots of keen road cyclists).  In Accolade, for example.

What really matters is the Model number.  Please help us to help you by adding more information to your Club profile (do *not* put your PM's serial number there).

I think the Guidant brand has disappeared, but the Belgian site lives on, and has become a major centre for BostonSci's European operations.

BostonSci and Abbott Labs are competitors of each other, but everyone is small fry compared to Medtronic.

I meant to ask "how are you feeling. Do you notice a difference with your CRT-D and is your wound healing"?  Glad you received your pacemaker ID card and details.  You can now look up your model and get access to the manual

Model appears to be G447.  Google takes me to "resonate" crtd so I can find some info. Seems you can have an MRI with this one and battery life is 13 years. The technical stuff is work in progress.

Gemita - the wound is something I try to avoid looking at. A casual glance says its getting there. I'm back in Hospital on Feb 24th for an ECG so they can have a look. As for how I'm feeling; I feel the same as before but with lockdown and no golf I'm not sure how to tell if I'm better or not; there are no hills in my neck of the woods. I guess the ECG may show up something. An Echocardiogram is what I need for the EF so I'll ask about that in hospital or else go private when lockdown is over.

Options

Just in case you are a "non-responder" to CRTD, and your EF doesn't improve, that is not unusual. The next option is His-pacing on your web browser. Someday, that will be the first and go-to option. And you don't have to go to Mayo anymore to get it.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
