Yes, I have a Medtronic Monitor by bedside. Nexxt month they will do a remote device check while I sleep. I haven't needed to push the button at all, but I can if I feel something weird.

Same here. Biotronik has "Cardiomessenger" as remote surveillance

a GSM size device, it picks up the data and sends it to the hospital every night,

I am supposed to be contacted should anything go wrong.

Remote Monitoring

I have a St. Jude Assurity dual chamber pacemaker, and a Merlin@Home remote transmitter that sits on my nightstand. The pacemaker communicates with the monitor via a wireless Bluetooth connection, and the transmitter sends the pacemaker reports to the manufacturer's secure site, where the reports are available to the doctor/ clinic.

I don't have to push any buttons, or do anything except sleep in the bed next to the transmitter. I have never seen the transmitter do anything, but it has sent the transmissions according to the schedule ( every 3 months) set by the doctor's office. I know this has happened because after the last two transmissions the cardiologist's office called me regarding the remote report, and instructed me to increase my medication ( metoprolol).  

Generally if the remote reports are ok, they don't call the patient, although some docs/ clinics may email or otherwise notify the patient the transmission was received and all is well.

Yep, I'm on my 2nd Medtronic Monitor. 1st one only lasted about 3 months it stopped working and they had to request a new one. Only time I had to press the button was when they were trying to find out why the 1st one was playing up and not transmitting. 5 months since my Op and no communication apart from the faulting monitor.
