Fell, should I have my icd checked?

Hello everyone,

I have been doing great, however, today while riding a bike I fell - my tires skidded. My left-side chest, shoulder, and arm hit the ground - luckily the ground was soft. Sounds dramatic, but luckily the only thing that broke was my phone holder - my phone and myself are completely fine. However, I am wondering, because I did hit my left side of the chest, the side that has an icd, should I have my icd checked out?  It's Friday, do you think I can just wait for Monday or should I just call the on-call doctor? Thanks in advance!

How do you feel ?

Dear Pinkit94,

I would be guided by how you feel.  However it will do no harm to have yourself checked (on Monday perhaps) when any bruising or other problems with the ICD may be more noticeable if you have caused any damage.

I would be guided by any symptoms you might be getting.  I would not panic if you are feeling okay, symptom free.  However for peace of mind maybe your team may want to hear about this and make absolutely sure that all is well on Monday?  Give them a call and discuss with them.

You seem young and healthy in most respects and I am sure it won't be the last fall you will experience, but please take care for the next few days!

It's doubtful that you damaged your PM or leads but you could do a remote transmission.  Let the device clinic know it's coming and why.  They should be able to confirm that nothing is wrong.

You should always go to the ER if you're on anticoagulants if you hit your head.

You know you're wired when...

You have a shocking personality.
