You are safer with the vaccine than without it

Dear Cheldhaye chill day,

Firstly, no harm will come to your pacemaker by having the vaccine, whichever brand.  And your pacemaker will continue to beat for you to protect you from your heart block even with the vaccine.  I have a pacemaker and have now received both of my Pfizer vaccines.  I am in the UK.  My husband has a pacemaker also and has now had both his AstraZeneca vaccines.  We are both still very much alive!   I suffered more side effects with the Pfizer than my husband did with the AstraZeneca vaccine, but my side effects were mainly flu symptoms related.  No harm to my heart condition, or to my pacemaker whatsoever.

The dangers of Covid-19 are well known and the deaths around the world are still rising.  Many additional dangers from having had the virus are still to be determined (like long Covid symptoms), so it is important for all of us to be protected.  

All the vaccines on offer I believe have been extensively tested for safety and effectiveness and approved for use, so try to be positive and confident that you will receive a safe vaccine.  Any vaccine offered to you in the Philippines will take into account your health history, age.

Before giving a vaccine they will ask a number of questions to make sure that it is safe for you to get your vaccine, so please feel reassured.  They asked me what meds I was taking, my health history, my family history, whether I had had any vaccines given in last fortnight, whether I had any allergies, any known current infection.  It was very thorough.

So to conclude, any vaccine on offer has been extensively tested for safety and effectiveness.  Without  a vaccine you are at high risk of getting the virus, spreading it and developing worsening symptoms from it, possibly leading to serious health problems or even death.  The vaccine is there to protect us, not to harm us.  It will not harm your pacemaker or lead to a worsening of your heart condition.

Ditto everything Gemita said. They will do some health screening questions before vaccinating you and they make you wait for 15 minutes after to make sure there are no adverse reactions, 30 minutes if you've previously reacted to a vaccine. None of the side effects, if you even have any,  will have any impact on your pacer. I had my first Moderna, get the second next week.

I've had both doses of Moderna, done in January and February( I work in health care). Other than a sore arm, a head ache, and feeling tired for 2 days, I've had no ill effects. The biggest effect so far is joy and relief. My spouse and two of my children are now fully vaccinated. 

Your caution is understandable, but yes, you should get the vaccine.

There is nothing in the vaccines that would affect us at all.  OTOH, depending on the reason that you have a PM, you may be at a higher risk from covid.  Just get the vaccine.  I had my second dose (Moderna) in early February.  I had small reactions but nothing unusual.

Hello ma'am Gemita, Trayce_E, Julros and AgentX86. I was so glad to hear comments from all of you. It did gives me peace of mind and lesser worries about the vaccine. I am asthmatic and have allergies as well that is why I really am worried about its complications. Though the vaccines that we had in our agency is not among the vaccines you mentioned. Ours is Novavax. I think you all have the point that vaccines were made to cure not worsen, just that reading and watching news about the effects still makes me nervous. Anyway, THANK YOU ALL for enlightening me especially that I cannot contact my Cardio. 

God speed. I hope this pandemic will soon end.

There's your problem, right there.  The news isn't to inform anymore, if it ever was.  It's purpose is to scare, indoctrinate, and sell.  It doesn't inform at all.

I also have asthma, recently diagnosed, most probably a result of having had covid. Having asthma makes it even more crucial that we be vaccinated as soon as possible because our lungs are already vulnerable. The combination of asthma and heart issues, my doctor gave me the paperwork to get my vaccine with the high risk group.
