Jerking

I am just five days post PM surgery. I notice that my stomach growls constantly, and yesterday I noticed jerking like seizures jolts in my hands like what you do when you are starting to fall asleep. Has anyone experienced something like this?

Startle

I had the same problem, plus a few more.  It's your body's reaction to the anesthetic they gave you during the time of the implant.  The jerking, or "startle" may or may not go away but it should lessen over time.

I had quite a few drugs for about ten days and my startle was very bad at first.  Then as the drugs were flushed out of my system they became less and less.  At six years out, if I'm really tired I'll still get a startle just before going to sleep.

You can ask your doctor/nurses about it but I don't think they'll be to concerned.

Hope your adjustment to your pacemaker goes well.

Theknot guy.
Thank you so much. I have never experienced those before, snd since my daughter has epilepsy, I was concerned.

Odd

I've had something similar, I think.  It's like a jolt through my body, every muscle fires for just an instant. Like you, it seems to happen just as/after I fall asleep but it has happened at other times.  I never associated it with my pacemaker.  I had such things well before that but much less frequently.

Yes!  It is like a jolt. I had asked my cardiologist before the pacemaker implant if I would get jolts since I have too much electricity in my body as it is.  I can't wear a watch because I make batteries go dead within two days. I also couldn't wear a Fitbit. When I tried I could feel the electrical current run from my wrist up to my heart. So I was concerned that anymore electricity to my body would be a problem. He said that he had not really heard about that although he had had another patient twitch a similar problem, and they did fine on the pacemaker. So I was afraid that maybe I was adding too much electricity although I don't know what my option would've been.

Thank you for your response. I will ask again at my first appointment.
