pacemaker checkup

When i was at the Pacemaker  Checkup this morning.  Everything was good.

Had changed to another Heart Dr's office.  Asked about the problem i had with the "talk to TV remote".  Said that incident did not appear.  Said i might try it again but this time sit down first.  In no rush to try again.  All though it was easy.  Except the voice did not always understand  what i said and there certainly cannot be any back ground noise.

Will go back in six months as now they have a base line.  Then will go yearly in August the anniversary of the  implant.

good news

Glad it went well!

If the incident with the remote didn't show up on the report, then the pacer wasn't affected and it's perfectly safe to try it again.

what happened then

Hello New to Pace,

Really all good news for the moment.  They do seem to be looking after you.  I would definitely start a diary of the date and time of anything you feel is significant for when you go back.  I keep a diary and it has been very helpful in pinpointing some of my most troublesome symptoms and my pacemaker clinic was able to determine what arrhythmia was present at the time to cause my symptoms.  I don't do it every day.  Only when I get stopped in my tracks and notice something I feel is worth diarying.

Did they give you any data feedback, like your percentage pacing figures?  I pace about 98% atrium and 2% ventricles.  I usually ask for a summary page which doesn't show everything but gives me some useful feedback.

Ref your dizzy spells, as I think we know, the pacemaker takes care of falling heart rates, but not falling blood pressure.  I wonder if your blood pressure is going too low sometimes and if so, that wouldn't show up on your pacemaker records and could certainly cause dizzy spells.  Are you drinking lots of water and keeping well hydrated.  I know I don't drink enough sometimes even though I tell everyone else too!  I have a blood pressure monitor and I know my blood pressure falls when I slip into one of my arrhythmias.  I get near syncope with falling blood pressure, irregular heart rhythm, or sudden high heart rates.

problems

by new to pace.... - 2021-04-15 19:59:45

I normally have problems with the food(about 17) i eat.  For many years now i know which ones and try to eat them every 4 days.  Get very cold, than fall into a deep sleep for 15 minutes to an hour.  Wake up with super energy.

This dizziness is something new.  I also know i am not good at drinking enough water,  which also causes floaters in my right eye..

Said the numbers she got were for  an average.  50% paced and afib 3%. Which all in all are quite good.

Dizziness

Hello New to Pace,

That is really interesting about the "getting very cold".  I get these sudden bouts of all over coldness and have to put layers and layers of clothing on to warm up when it happens.  It is not just my hands that get cold as in Raynaud's.  It is total body coldness as though I am about to shut down.  Unlike you I cannot sleep while I am "icy cold".  I need to warm up first. My thyroid seems to be okay but my nervous system is the culprit, since I have had ANS (autonomic nervous system) testing.

3% AFib doesn't sound very much but it is certainly enough to cause the occasional dizziness, especially with blood pressure falls, sudden changes in heart rate and when we are dehydrated.  Keep those records and you may well come up with the evidence to correlate the Afib with your dizziness occasionally. Feel your wrist pulse when it happens to feel for any irregularity of heart rhythm, slowing down or speeding up of pulse.  If pulse feels steady (even beats, neither fast nor slow), then you can rule out arrhythmia as cause and look elsewhere.  But keep checking pulse and get to know what is normal for you.  Of course there are lots of causes of dizziness, from balance and neck problems to anaemia, infection somewhere and gastrointestinal problems to name a few.

Have you had any recent blood checks New to Pace?  This might help to identify the cause too.  Good luck my friend
