I was given a stress test before my first pm was implanted. And then after I recieved it. For the past several years I've had a stress test once a year. My next one is scheduled for May 25. I've had one nuclear test but the rest, including the next one, have been on a treadmill. I always look forward to seeing how long I can last on the treadmill. There's also a lot of information that comes with the test.
Have a great race,

This time are you having the chemical one or using the treadmill?
I much prefer the chemical one, easier on my knees.

I've had several. They not only show how the heart handles exertion but are extremely useful in fine tuning the pacer settings.

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.

Prettylady, it can be done at any time when your doctors need more information to see how well for example you are managing with your present settings, or with any heart condition you may have. Often it is done too at the start of your treatment, that is before you have a pacemaker, before you have treatment for heart disease.
For example, they carried out a stress test on my husband to try to determine how much he was being affected by his blocked arteries. They could see from his chemical stress test that he was in trouble. A few weeks later he had three stents implanted.
To sum up, it can be done at any time when your doctors, or you need more information to help with treatment, that is, more information to help with your pacemaker settings, to help with your medication or other treatment you may be receiving. Depending on your stress test results, treatment can be adjusted with confidence. Good luck
