Hi
I am 6 month post surgery and still have pain when I liedown,I find it difficult to actually turn over in bed and I am not sleeping very well.
This isn't my first pm and I have not experienced this after past surgery's just thought I would ask if anyone else has experienced this.
I have sent a email to my cardiologist today and hope to get it sorted.

It has taken me a long time to be able to sleep on my left side. Have to positiion myself very carefully. Certainly not on my stomach at all. Pacemaker implanted Aug. 19,2019.

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
Discomfort after 6 months

Maureen, it is so disappointing to hear this. I would ask if it is possible to have any imaging in the lying down position and/or "side position" to try to see exactly what might be happening to your device, leads when you lie down and turn.
I am going to ask the obvious questions whether you have any noticeable signs of swelling, inflammation, oozing, excess scar tissue build up along the device wound (of course this could be happening internally as well), any signs of device movement, protrusion of device or leads (unlikely), itchiness to indicate allergic reaction ?
I have read that some patients do continue to have pain/discomfort after this time, but it is very unusual. I did find an old PM Club thread confirming this and one member saying her cardiologist said it could be normal for some patients and due to stretching of scar tissue.
I know you had a complication (?mild stroke) following placement of a new lead (old lead capped and buried) and I am wondering if blood flow to the area could be affected in any way when you are in certain positions or you have developed a complex pain syndrome (nerve related) which is keeping your pain going. Yes at 6 months post procedure you need help and some answers Maureen and I do hope your cardiologist is able to give those. Please let us know what advice your doctors give you and good luck. Otherwise are you still feeling better with the second lead working? I do hope so.
