So procedure got moved to 3pm, I hate being the last of the day (don't they know I'm starving here!). Aaaand the bad news is they want to put it subpectoral in my shoulder, and leave me crt-p in due to increased risk of infection if they take it out (risk of infection being 3percent but I am pretty sure it's about the same for the new one they are putting in anyways. I think they think "well it's coming out hopefully this year she can deal" what they don't think is "how would I feel if they left an unused device in and added a second one that were both big and comfortable and I was stuck with them both for a year?"
Oh well, I pressured them again to at least consider my request to extract the old one, but I am pretty sure that went in one ear and out the other. I'm going to be going home with a left arm PICC line, new giant icd can in left shoulder and my giant crt-p can still in my abodomin (rolls eyes). That was all the venting I will do, it is what is is. Update y'all after I am up, AND have eaten lmao!
I added some "educational" photos into the member gallery :)

Perhaps you will have a nice surprise

Just a few words, let you know I'm thinking about you and hope you might have a surprise when you wake up, and it won't be that bad after all.
I agree with Gemita, we are all in the hands of our doctors, and we must have trust in their way of dealing with our issues.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Surgery lasted 7 housalost as long S my sternotomy!

I would do u full update but I had the pleasednt surprise when I woke up that they DID remove my a dominant can because I am so skinny. Procedure went long due to the technical level of my case. I will say subpectoral ismuch
more painful for anyone who is curious.
a few small complications came up including a lack of appropriate pain med orders due to the fact I wasn't out ofsutgery till around 930 pm on a Friday. Recovery booted me under 5 min and did no vitals or medications that r normal as d upstairs only had hospitalist to call but since post op and surgical de iced to do absolutely nocharting they wouldn't take my word for it. Took two hours to get any meds and even then they gave me only a tiny single dose. Uhg. Permanent home milrinone PIC C was ruined in some way during procedure as well despite being told not to use it, will now be stuck till interventional radiology can put a subclavian n on Monday (they screwed the only non surgical approach last was viable, So painful night and a lot of frustration.
sorry for typos trying to type on iPhone with only one hand and no way to support it
Not the news I was expecting

Dear ASully,
It is difficult from your message to fully understand what you have been through although it is clear the procedure was far from straightforward and you didn't get the level of care that should have been available to you at all times, during and following such a lengthy procedure. I am so very sorry. I cannot believe that your personal team of caring doctors would have allowed inadequate pain relief and I am now wondering whether they were actually present for the entire length of the procedure.
But now is not perhaps the time for questions, anger and frustration. You need above all to recover and I do hope the team of doctors and nurses on duty over this weekend will be able to make you comfortable and help you through this difficult period. I will private message you.
Gemita xx
Time to use those contacts in your 'phone
by crustyg - 2021-05-22 07:12:30
Hi: I wouldn't put up with this: if you have their contacts now is the time to use them. I'd start with the CEO. Spending a weekend in unncessary, severe pain is not acceptable, and someone senior needs to explain to the twits who messed around with your PICC that this is serious stuff and when they were told NOT to use it or damage it, they should have understood that this meant THEM.
My experience of this type of joke analgesia is to start describing their pain relief as homeopathic - generally gets their attention. Yes, I know that all licensed docs in the USA now believe that one dose of fentanyl and you're a junkie for life, but even so, post-op pain drives the heart (all that sympathetic outpouring) and that's not good for YOU, in your condition.
Don't be angry, icy-calm works better, but use those contacts. Spoil *their* weekends too....
Spoil their weekend

Sounds like a good idea. I'm not much for doxing but there are limits.
It's really amazing. My EP didn't have any qualms with pain meds. I was given vicodin in the hospital and sent home with a prescription for a week's vicodin, which I filled but didn't use. For my CABG I think I had a month's worth and used it for a couple of weeks because the bronchitis was rather painful.
Asully and I live in the same area (perhaps 10mi from each other) but use different doctors/hospitals, so it's not a regional thing. It's probably not even a hospital policy, rather a doctor who doesn't want to fill out a few forms. I agree, her treatment was unconscionable.
You know you're wired when...
You can finally prove that you have a heart.

Dear ASully,
I am disappointed it hasn't gone according to plan today, and it is miserable being nil by mouth for so long but you will appreciate the hospital food even more when you do get to eat. I hope it won't be too long now.
I cannot really understand why they are going sub pectoral shoulder (new location, new potential additional infection site), unless the risk of an infection is potentially greater by opening you again abdominally so soon after your last procedure? But I wouldn’t challenge them ASully. They must have considered all their options, considered carefully your present health status and come up with the best solution. I will look at the photos in the member gallery.
Please let us know the news as soon as you can. I hope for the very best
