I've had my stiches removed a week ago... how soon can I get the incision wet by dunking in a pool? I have showered already.

Agreed - better to wait

Unless this is your pool that you know the water quality of, I would agree that it's better to wait a few more weeks before immersing yourself. Dangling your feet in = no problem.

This question should have been answered by your EP. They should have given you a specific time-line. Until then, you simply can't even trust pool water. Even if it's heavily chlorinated and looks as clean as your dinner plates, there is all sorts of crap growing in there. It may look clean but it's a cess pool. There is a reason that swimming with open sores isn't a good idea. An infection in your leg (or whatever) may be inconvenient. An infection in your PM incision may be deadly. Follow *your* instructions.

Usually by the time the stitches come out it is healed enough to submerge (otherwise they would have said no shower). Your likely fine to take a dip just double check with the doc just in case.

I would wait close to 6 weeks, to make sure you are really healed plus there could be infecttions in the water. Also that way you will not be tempted to raise your arm above your shoulder.
