Covid-19 Vaccine

Hello everyone,

So I am scheduled to get my first Moderna vaccine tomorrow. I am looking forward to receiving it and was wondering if anyone feels comfortable to share if they suffered any symptoms after the shots?

I have a complete heart block and thankfully my pacemaker is doing well. My only concern is having palpitations or a fast heart rate after the vaccine. Although, this is probably unlikely...I am just a bit a nervous.

Thanks everyone.

:)

Vaccine

Hi Nina - congrats in advance!  I found great relief in getting my Moderna shots - I have a similar diagnosis to yours and am 100% paced.  I had no negative effects but for very minor tiredness / muscle aches / slightly elevated temperature after the 2nd shot, so I just went to bed a little early and it was gone by the next day.  Well worth a little temporary discomfort.  I'm glad to hear you're feeling well with your PM.

Reactions

After the first Moderna shot I was really tired until about noon the next day, then only a bit of a sore arm for a few days.  After the second, just a sore arm.

My wife had a sore arm after the first but after the second she had a reaction much like the shingles.  It was painful and itching like mad for about two weeks.  She went to an immediate care place after about ten days.  The doctor told her that it wasn't unusual and in fact, it was called "Moderna arm" and that it would go away after two weeks (which was in only four days).  It did.

It was well worth the minor reactions.  We were never petrified and didn't buy into the panic porn but covid was concerning.  After the second, we had no worries at all.

We had our second in early Febuary.

Depends on your personal history

There's good evidence that for the mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna), previous exposure to the virus (SARS-CoV-2) makes the 24-48hr post vaccination much more uncomfortable - not for everyone but for a lot of folk it's like having a 48hour influenza reaction, and then it's gone.

Because of that, each individual's experiences of these vaccines varies a lot - some lucky folk (yes, like me), mild arm stiffness and tenderness and nothing else, others it's 48hr of really feeling unwell, and then for everyone else it's something in between.

Well worth getting the vaccine.

I had the two Moderna shots in March and had no reaction that I could tell from the first and after the second shot a slight rise in temperature, 99.1 which only lasted a few hours.  Then a rash, Moderna arm which I had read about which went away after a few days. It was a relief to get the vaccination.

I have had both doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine and felt well after each one. I did have a stiff, tender arm after each one. It lasted for a few days only.

Good luck!

going in

going into the second shot I had read the articles about how the reaction could be somewhere between nothihng and literally curled up in the fetal poisition in pain.

Mine were pretty much nothing (CCHB 100% paced bi-ventrical), the second I was a bit worn out that day which could have been sleep deprivation but was probably the shot, another friend same story.  Other folks were between the same and a bit less comfortable, most folks I know their arm was sore that next day.  I did have one friend that was closer to the curled up in a fetal position with severe pain.

The pacer will do its job if your rate gets elevated.  At this point my comment is late and you hopefully had it and are actually beyond day of and day after, so hopefully it went well.

I got my first dose of the Moderna shot today
