3rd day since switching Cymbalta to bedtime instead of morning. It was hard to judge any difference over the weekend--I'm always lazy on the weekend, and maybe too soon to tell anyway. Today I found it VERY hard to wake up in the morning, but once I was functioning it was all go. I walked the dog, potted some houseplants, shopped & cooked dinner. I'm ready to relax now, but not as in fall into bed & sleep. I appreciate the suggestions that I got to my earlier post. It is a nice change to be able to say the problem does not seem to be from my heart or the meds I take for my heart. That makes me oddly happy!

Extreme sleepiness

Cymbalta is an antidepressant drug. Like all medicines, it has side effects, oversedation being one of them. Usually after a few days, the body gradually adjusts. In addition, when the antidepressant effect begins to take place after a few weeks, there should be an improvement in mood and energy level. Your mental depression is independent from your heart condition and pacemaker. It seems that Cymbalta has started to work. Congratulations!

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
Thank you for the update - good news so far

Well TLee the experiment was well worthwhile and I would say your sleepiness is better controlled. Yes it is always reassuring when we can pinpoint a particular cause and for once it doesn't seem to be completely heart or heart medication related. Now how often can we say that.
Do you find that taking Cymbalta at night gives you a better night's sleep as well and that that might contribute to feeling better during the day also? I hope your progress continues
