Increase in heart rate

Had a pacemaker implant oct of 2020. After many adjustments I started to feel better after heart rate was increased.  Lately having flutters and my drs nurse is having me come in  for a check as my heart rate has increased to 95. My pacemaker is set at 70. Wondering if I should be concerned? Also why this might happen? Any information will be appreciated.

Heart rate between 60-100 bpm is considered normal

Jam, I would try not to worry.  A heart rate between 60-100 bpm is considered normal.  The flutters may be a new arrhythmia but at 95 bpm it would not cause me or my EP any real concern.  I would go by my symptoms.  You say you are very much better with a higher base rate setting of 70 bpm, so this would be a very good sign.

When you go back to see your nurse, you could ask whether there have been any new arrhythmias seen and the highest heart rate recorded, or any other significant "events".

Our heart rates are frequently changing depending on our activity, any stress we may be feeling, too much caffeine, too little sleep and so on.  Unless you are symptomatic at 95 bpm or your rates climb frequently to over 100 bpm (which would then be classified as tachycardia), I would not personally be too worried but express your concerns and tell your doctors of any worrying symptoms.

You might also ask about PMT ( Pacemaker Mediated Tachycardia.) Where your pacer and heart argue over who is in charge causing some interesting epispdes such as yours. Mine gave me grief and we kept increasing the base rate until the problem was gone. I'm now paced at 80 and intially it was uncomfortable but now I never notice and surprisingly some of my arrhythmias are gone too.
