Embarrassment could kill you

I too had vaccine hesitancy - last Autumn!  Your continued hesitation could kill you, so stop being embarrassed and get your vaccine shots.

It looks as though there's slightly better protection against Delta variant from Moderna, but I may be completely mistaken on that.

A wise vaccine expert said in January: 'The best vaccine is the one that you can get in your arm.'  Seemed like good advice to me.

Remember, ALL of the studies show that the side effects of Covid-19 (heart problems, blood clots, lung damage) are MUCH MORE COMMON than from any of the vaccines, probably 10-100 times or more.  And that's before you add in the risk of death from Covid-19.  You ride in a car, but that could kill you, so where's the logic there?

Stop delaying, get the vaccination.

But of course, this is only my opinion / advice.  In this life advice is cheap.  The Wisdom of Solomon is working out which advice is good...

The very best one is the one you can get. All vaccines are better than no vaccines. I haven't heard about heart irregularities with any of them. The news changes almost daily about how each of them works so I tend to tune it out. I didn't know which I was getting until I got there, they switched it up which one they were doing.

FWIW, I got moderna. Was sick the first two days, nothing after that. 

I also had what we believe was a mild case of covid, back at the beginning when they weren't testing anyone not hospitalized.  A year and a half later and I'm still dealing with asthma. I never had any lung problems before I got sick.  I jumped at the vaccine first chance I could, didn't much care which one I got as long as I was protected against getting it again.

Everything that Crusty and Tracey said is spot on. 

I got Moderna, because that was what was available. I had a really sore arm, and felt under the weather for about a day and a half. And a huge feeling of relief. You can bet I will getting a booster as soon as its my turn, in October.

Hi Athena,

I just wanted to mention that you aren't in any way alone in your reluctance to get your covid vaccine, lots of people haven't yet done so, or decided to get the shots due, from what I've seen, or heard, from fear of reported side effects, or thinking that the vaccines have only "emergency use authorization" from the FDA in the US, and don't have a long-term history of us so it's hard to tell what the long term effects may be. And there are stories, reports of illnesses, symptoms assumed to be side effects of vaccines, but I'd have to say these reports are in the minority compared to the millions who have received the vaccines with no ill aftereffects. Still, I understand the reluctance to get the "shots".

I couldn't say whether the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines are better, I know many who have gotten either one or the other and nobody I know has had anything but minor side effects a day or two after the vaccines. I got the J&J one and done shot, because that was what they had on hand when I went for the vaccine. I can't say I had any side effects I could pin on that vaccine.

I don't know if these days there are more choices of vaccines one gets, or if it's still just a matter of whatever is available at the time one shows up for the vaccine, but I'd think that either Pfizer or Moderna is effective, ( as is the J&J, or so I hope) in mitigating severe covid disease and the probabillity is on your side anyway for not getting it at all. I have heard of more incidences of new onset arrhythmias from covid, so I guess if I were worried about that I'd take my chances with the shot.

Anyway, glad you've decided to get the shot, and don't worry, you aren't alone in thinking twice about it.

You are right.

There is not much to choose between the vaccines  in this respect, 

They all can very rarely indeed cause myocarditis.

You are speaking to the person who had Covid and as a complication developed  atrial flutter ( thankfully only lasting a month).  The hospital is getting lots of cases of heart damage from Covid infection. Having the vaccination is a no-brainer.  Much better to have the vaccine than be a target. Almost all the people going to ICU with Covid are the unvaccinated and a high percentage of these have cardiac complications. Sadly, a high percentage of these folk never come out alive.

J&J

I also got the J&J, because it is the closest thing to a real vaccine. No side effects to speak of. My wife got the Moderna, and with the second shot was sick for several days.
