Difference between Biotronik Edora/Evity/Enitra ProMRI Pacemakers?

New here - great to find this community. 

I'm scheduled for my first PM end of September.  At Kaiser (Northern CA) they appear to use only a "Biotronic Edora 8" - I'm getting the double lead, "DR-T".

I read the manual (142 pages) - but it's the same manual for what sound like three different models: Edora, Evity, and Enitra. I can't find anything in the manual that distinquishes between these three models. 

Is there any actual difference, or is this just some marketing or geographically-related naming issue (i.e. all three are functionally the same)?

Device names

Hi Jerry - It's great that you have advance information about the device you'll have implanted, but of course also frustrating to try to understand the differences among the devices that are grouped together in your manual.  I have the Biotrinik Eluna, and it came with a similar manual that included several devices in the product line, making it difficult to decipher.  Searching online could provide some more helpful information. The Biotronik tech who visits you to check everything after implant could be an excellent resource - even though you may not be feeling much like asking questions at that time, perhaps have some Qs prepared.  If there is a particular concern you have now such as ensuring you can continue your current lifestyle with this pacemaker compared to others, keep asking your clinic and EP/cardiologist for information.  Wishing you the best in your surgery, recovery, and return to normal life.

I have the Boston Sci PM reference manual which covers eight PM models (no CRT or ICD), and was reading it recently to try and find out which PMs have Minute Ventilation.  Not surprisingly the vendors don't make it easy to compare models in the public manuals, but if you look for features you begin to get a feel for which models are 'better' for some conditions than others.

There is surprising variation between models for physical size, battery life, MRI compatibility, ability to record and store lots of events (arrhythmias), and features that *might* be important like remote monitoring, ability to link to a smartphone app, etc. Very long battery life (e.g. 15years) isn't necessarily a great thing - the CCHB folk here who've had 3-5PMs report that each box change (for new battery) has brought great new features and useful improvements.

I have a Biotrnik CRT-D and had questions about it. I went online and got a response very quickly

I only knew the night before what  device I would get.

Good for you that you have some time to dig in to the matter
