Am I the only one?

So, for the past week or two I've been feeling this weird bubbling/fizzing feeling at my pacemaker site.I've tried (in vain) to look up and see if there was any information on what it could be. My model number is part of the FDA recall of Abbott Assurity pacemakers. Just not the serial. I have a check up tomorrow, but has anyone else felt this before?

Hopefully It's Nothing

Oh no! That doesn't sound good.

I unfortunetly have not experienced anything like that. But I did want to stop by to say that looking things up online almost always makes it TEN times worse, if not more. I love the internet, but man it really brings the alert levels to 10 when it comes to anything heart or PM-related.

Your checkup being as soon as tomorrow is promising and hopefully you don't experience this anymore or any worse (if so, call someone or go in asap).

Let us know what they find and take care!

Weird sensations

Every now and then weird sensations arise in and around the pacemaker. "Ant bites," pulling, twitching, stretching, "electrical-feeling" zips have all be described by pacemaker recipients posting here. The sensations are most common in the first year after pacemaker while you're still healing on the inside, but can show up at any time. I myself sometimes feel like the underside of my pacemaker is itching--even though my pacemaker is 10 years old.

I doubt if you'll find anything useful on the general internet but check the pacemaker club archives. Lots of people have written about strange sensations in and around the pacemaker.

As long as you feel okay--no fever, redness at pacemaker site, soreness--there's no need to hit the panic button. If it bothers you, try putting some ice on it to calm the nerves down.

You know you're wired when...
