Pounding Heart

Hi

I'm four years post medtronic pacemaker implantation (August 2017) for total heart block 19 seconds during the night. I am now 71 years old.
Previous to this I had a Reveal Linq device implanted October 2016 as I'd been feeling dizzy and almost fainted on one occasion. Nothing unusual was found. After almost a year later an  analysis found there was a pause on 25 July 2017 at 04:15 hours; the ECG showed a brief episode of Wenckebach, followed by a 19 second pause in the context of complete heart block. I was asleep at the time. A holiday was quickly cancelled and a pacemaker implanted

i have acclimatised to being a pacemaker patient took me time but it's a better option than the alternative!  Have been having six monthly checks. Last one only three weeks ago was told all is ok. Today I was out shopping with my husband, when suddenly my heart started absolutely thudding almost felt painful and I had to stop myself from falling it felt scary.like it was bursting out of my chest.  I took an ecg on my Apple Watch. It was all over the place and came out Inconclusive. My question is should I report this? After five minutes I felt normal again but there was definitely  something gping on

Grateful for any advice or comments. Thank you!

Long answer short -- yes! It doesn't cost anything to send a message or make a phone call. I'm not saying to worry, but I'd definitely report it. In some cases, you can send your Apple Watch info to your cardiac team.

It might be nothing or something mild that they can explain, but wouldn't you rather it be that than the alternative of something being wrong?

I can't explain what it is (I hope others can chime in for you), but I'd always error on the side of caution.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
