good to know

I was wondering how people were reacting to the booster! I didn't react at all to the first (Moderna), was sick as a DOG for 2 days after #2. I'll get the booster regardless, but sounds like I should do it when my calendar is clear for a day or two after.

Since could not remember the reactions to the first 2 did not get any extra bribery foods in.. Now i realalize it would have been better have some more food and should have been prepared. But then again was not really hungry.
Monday morning woke up early 3amEST and discovered that i had sweated. Did not realize i must have had a fever. After that felt ok, even went shopping and purchased some ice cream.

Booster

My wife had a pretty severe case of "Moderna Arm" after the second dose and will refuse the booster. I had a more severe reaction to the first than the second but neither was that bad. I'm on the fence for the booster.
booster and report any adverse reactions to www.vaers.hhs.com

Actually was glad i had the reaction, told me that i got the real vaccine not some placebo. The 1/2 shot means the reactions should not last as long as your first 2.
If you normally get the flu shot you can get both at the same time. They were doing that at the Publix pharmcy where i got the booster.
Every one make sure you report any adverse reactions to VAERS.

Reaction

I'm unconvinced that the reaction indicates the effectiveness of the vaccine. If there is no reaction does it mean that there was no need for the vaccination? Why do people who have already had the disease often have the most severe reaction?
Why would you suspect that you were given a placebo? Some sort of government test? You might have been part of the approval test group while it was still in its experimental phase?
I had my flu shot a few weeks ago in my Rheumatologist office. Last year I couldn't get the old fart's shot in a pharmacy.
Reaction to vaccine

Hi AgentX86, I sense this subject has a long way to go yet. Are you going to have that booster or are you still on the fence?
I think I could have stopped at vaccine number 1 and still have been fully protected, but guidelines told me otherwise. I am unclear whether a strong reaction to the vaccine indicates “effectiveness” of the vaccine, only time will tell, although I believe a strong reaction following vaccination would suggest a strong immune response to the vaccine which has to be good I suppose, or an immune system under a great deal of stress. If there had been no adverse reaction, I would have assumed that the vaccine had been “ineffective” or poorly administered and of no benefit which is what I experience after most of my flu shots!
You ask “why do people who have already had the disease often have the most severe reaction"? I cannot speak for everyone, only for myself.
For me, I am convinced that my acute reaction to the vaccine was caused by my immune system launching a massive attack against an invader. We know that the vaccine works by introducing a molecule to cells, known as messenger RNA (mRNA). This molecule teaches cells to make a protein from the virus that causes COVID-19, which is SARS-CoV-2. The body detects this protein and triggers an immune response. This creates antibodies, as well as longer lasting immunity. I have fought many illnesses in my lifetime AgentX86, and I know when my immune system is active and under attack and each one of those Pfizer vaccines certainly caused a severe reaction for me for the first three days.
I believe my immune system recognised the threat from the higher antibody concentrations already in my body from having had the virus in April 2020 and then building up after each Pfizer dose. I believe there have been quite a few studies looking into this. After my first dose of Pfizer I almost had a repeat of my FULL coronavirus symptoms - the loss of taste, loss of smell and appetite, the chills/rigours, the night sweats, the overwhelming fatigue that required bed rest for at least 48 hours, the raised temperature and increased arrhythmias. My immune system clearly recognised the threat at that time and went into overdrive. I even reported my symptoms using our Yellow Card scheme since I was so very concerned but didn't hear from anyone, so presumed my symptoms were not unusual … and it did not turn out to be Coronavirus all over again. Now I am symptom free again but I really don't want to have another Pfizer vaccine. Maybe I will try Astra Zeneca next time. By the way I had my flu shot today in my pharmacy. Please, no more vaccines!
Booster?

Gemita, I'm still on the fence.
I'm still unconvinced. I haven't seen any studies that compare symptoms to effectiveness. I doubt anyone would do the study - they don't want the answer. They don't want to know that having the disease causes immunity. They certainly don't want to know if the vaccine is inefective in most people (again, I don't believe it is but that's the inference). Your belief that the severity of reaction relates to effectiveness, pushes me to the "no booster" side of the fence. ;-)
got the booster

got moderna, both shots plus booster. Im one of the ones that it aint no thing. Dont really care what that means, my folks didnt really have reactions either. My arm was sore for one of them, breifly. Maybe I was a little more tired the day after. But nothing I could pin on the shots.
I know folks that had heavy duty, curled in a ball in pain reactions. I dont think that would stop me personally. But you are going to do what you are going to do despite what others experience/advice is.
moderna booster is a half dose, the others are full dose. You can mix and match but I chose not to, why not if I dont have to. So it will be interesting to see what the stats are on reactions, as first dose was it like 50% have a reaction and second is much higher, is third moderna lower or same as second or ... I guess we will see.

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
Glad you are now fully protected New to Pace

Yes I had my booster about 10 days ago (Pfizer vaccine for all three doses). To be honest I think my body was probably sufficiently protected after just the first dose because of the strong reaction I have had to all three doses and the fact that I had had Coronavirus prior to my first vaccine. Nonetheless all my doctors urged me to get all my vaccine doses for complete protection. (For all three doses I experienced several days of high temperature, chills, flu symptoms and increased arrhythmias. I never experienced arm stiffness though). I feel completely protected now, for myself and for others, I have no lingering adverse effects following my strong reaction to all three vaccine doses and I know my vaccine details are up to date should I ever wish to travel.
