Piece of suture remains at end of pacer scar

Hi,

My surgeon picked out most of it but a black spot remains, embedded in thickened skin. Anybody dealing with this? Will it work itself out so I can tweeze the edge of it to pull out?

They usually snip it very close and it heals itself from there. That's what mine did. Whatever you do, do not pull on it. If it's still causing problems, have them look at it again.

Do not pull it out! An infection would ruin your day, maybe your life. Like a splinter, it'll probably work its way out. If not, see your doctor (likely his nurse).

eject a suture

I have had one where it ejected a suture, went to the doc, they pulled it out, no issue.  I would not necessarily just do it yourself, but if you have a newly installed one to have a suture that has not dissolved then you should be seeing them soon.  If it just falls out it just falls out.

Like everybody suggested, dont DIY this. Infection would be the worst case scenario for you.

It happens very often that even resorbables stitches don't dissolve...  As it did on me...

Keep a close eye on it, and go back to the doc if needed.
