Super Excited

Stillshocked,

No it is not silly to be super excited with the prospect of getting a new device on 14 Jan.  After all it will be a system upgrade for you with all the latest technology.  It is unusual though to see someone experiencing excitement going into an upgrade rather than concern about their forthcoming procedure.  How do you do it that is what I want to know?

Another 10ish years?  What a lovely thought!  I wish you all the very best with your procedure

Best wishes!

What sorts of improvements can we expect to experience with the latest pacemakers compared to pacemakers from 8-9 years ago? I've never had a replacement myself, but if my next pacemaker could be a bit smaller I'd be happy.

Shaun I think of it as a software upgrade, a brand new computer with longer battery life with newer helpful features to help treat our heart condition, like anti tachycardia pacing, features to prevent unnecessary pacing when not required that will help to conserve battery life, and to give our doctors more control of our settings, better data information and control of how data is stored.  Better wireless monitoring to track pacemaker data is improving all the time too to help doctors treat any new condition quickly.  Better MRI safety features and so hopefully the list goes on!  I would ask about a smaller device.  Maybe they can offer you one for your next pacemaker

Just because you have a device doesn't mean you are damaged goods and can't do anything worthwhile and have to lie down and die. In fact, you're better and stronger. You're bionic!
