So, I am now officially on the routine heart transplant waiting list.
My SCA was what tipped me over the line to say: yes, put me on the list.
And now I'm just living my life as I have been for the last few years, albeit getting some stuff documented so that the lines of communication are clear to everyone if I do get called, and anyone who cat sits knows how stuff in my house works/is organised. My will and Powers of Attorney have been in place a long time, as has my Advanced Decision and Statement. My Go Bag is packed, and a I have speed dial for some local taxi firms who have indicated they should be able to handle a 75 mile fare in the middle of the night in case I'm alone when the call comes.
Everything else is out of my hands, so I'm not worrying about it.

I guess that's good news, Atrias. It's too bad that you have to go through that but if it's necessary it's better sooner than later.
I found Gemita's link interesting:
"A physiotherapist will discuss exercise with you. Your new heart will have a resting heart rate that's faster than normal because it's not 'connected' to the nerves that control your heart rate. So it's important to make sure you warm up and cool down before and after any physical activity."
I hadn't even considered the nerves being cut, though the SI node should still be functional? That's an interesting question.
Anyway, we wish you luck and keep please let us know how you're getting along. I think I speak for everyone and wish you a speedy transplant and recovery.
Best wishes

75 miles is a long way. I wish the very best for your future welfare.

I hope a new heart comes quickly for you

Dear Atiras,
I hope you will not have to wait too long for a new heart and that you will be well enough to remain at home until one becomes available? I am glad you have got your house in order and that you can focus on looking after yourself and building up your strength for what lies ahead.
I send my very best wishes to you for a safe and successful outcome. Please keep in touch and update us whenever you can.
