Biotronik dual chamber pacemaker since 2019
Resting heart rate 35.
left and right bundle block branch. 100% paced 43 years old male
im still working my same job as I did before, at a car manufacturer company. a lot spot welders which causes alot EMF around me.and I do stick welding and co2 welding now and again.
pacemaker has never recorded or reported any
problems. I would not recommend any else to try and do this. I'm no expert .
So I went for a yearly check up yesterday everything was all good.
I asked him few questions about cycling Because my heart rate did not go up.
he's said not really much he can do if I'm road cycling and sitting on my seat.
I do understand that.
He asked me if I get TIRED after cycling, I replied yes, so he said going to change few settings.
I know he changed my upper limit to 170 not sure what the other settings was. Or could possibly be.
just said it could give me more energy, anymore no what this could be?

I've posted this before. Several months ago I went in for my annual interragion. I told her I had trouble hitting my old pace. She changed my beats per minute from 95 to 105. It made a world of difference. I also have more energy.
Thanks

Life after pacemaker

So glad you posted with your story. We frequently get posts from people your age fundamentally asking "Is there life after pacemaker?"
We can point to you and say, "Heck yeah! Nofear-zn went back to a job manufacturing cars."
I can't speak about cycling, but I do ballroom dance and I just naturally like to move fast. It made a huge difference to me when my pacemaker was reprogrammed to give me the fastest possible Response Rate time. I became much less tired from exercise.
Now, RR is so sensitive my heart rate jumps to 85 if I so much as reach for a Kleenex but that doesn't bother me. Don't know if it would help cycling but it might be worth asking about.

That's frustrating, and I hope you can get it addressed, but the app may not tell you your current settings, anyway - those may have to come from the doc. My Biotronik doesn't have an app, only a "dumb" monitor that doesn't tell me anything - just sends data to the manufacturer/ PM clinic. Similar to Gotrhythm, adjusting rate response / CLS made a world of difference for me and the quicker rise in HR when doing everyday activities is worth the tradeoff in that I can do pretty much everything I want to do without exhaustion. Best wishes for good cycles ahead.
Testing new settings

I did cycle this morning my average heart increased from 105 to 157 the exact same ride as I always do. My heart rate did go up to 173
.
On my graph heart rate did not do big drops like it always did before. It was constant.
the question is it bad for heart ?
I could feel a big difference.
the ride was a lot easier almost felt like I was cheating.
will give it few months and see how goes.

CLS?

Hi Nofear - did you get a report of the setting changes? I assume could be related to CLS but maybe not. Glad you're overall feeling OK with your pacemaker.
