Hi all: I'm considering getting an e-bike. However, would the electric motor interfere with the pacemaker? I want to be putting effort into the ride but have the assurance of getting home that the motor would provide. However, I don't want to be without the use of the pacemaker on the ride. I am 70 and pretty fit but definately not an athlete! BTW, biking on a graveled trail is more effective for stimulating the pacemaker than is biking on a smooth road where the pacemaker may not detect the activity effectively.

There are few things that interfer with a PM. MRIs can be done (unless your PM is an old model); airport scanners are fine; and almost everything else. This assumes that the stronger electrical devices aren't practically "on top of" your PM (i.e., within a foot or two). The only no-no's I know about is to be near welding equipment or very large equipment. Here's a good run down:

too far

its too far away, you need to be hugging the motor while its running, and as pointed out above, not enough power. No worries, have fun.

I live an extremely normal life now and my device does NOT hinder me in any way.

No, the eBike isn't going to bother your pacemaker. The wrong kind of motor, too small, and far away from your pacemaker.
A gravel road will probably stimulate the accelerometer in your pacemaker but it won't be proportional to your oxygen demand. It may help, or not. It might one day and not the next, depending on how bumpy that particular road is. It really can't hurt.
