Bowling

I have been an avid bowler for over 40 years.  Bowling 3 to 4 times a week. I noticed my speed when bowling went from 14 to 8 miles per hour.  Knew it was an issue with my heart based on my heart rate was always under 50  Had a BS Accolade dual chamber put in on 5/20.  Excuse me if termanology isn't correct - new to everything.  Had a stent put in on 4/06.  Heart conditions started in November.

I have a few questions about getting back to bowling.  I am a right handed bowler and want to bowl in the Las Vegas Open on July 16 and 17.  Will I be able to bowl it and if so how can I get prepared.  Will I need to get a ball lower weight - I have a 14.  My current heart rate set between 75 and I think 130.  Currently I feel exhausted just walking a little.  My doctor said before surgery I should be able to bowl in 6 weeks.  Thoughts anyone?

6 weeks

Once you heal, you should be able to do whatever you did before, but with more energy! Nothing special to do to prepare. Don't lift anything heavy or raise the arm above shoulder level until you heal, other than that it's important to use the arm normally so your shoulder doesn't freeze. Once we heal, no restrictions.

Sometimes the settings they send us home with need to be tweaked, so if you don't feel right once you start to get active again, ask to have the settings checked. Many of us need higher than 130.

Hello Keyterry

I had a biventricular implant 2/15/2022, I also bowl.  I waited the 6 weeks,  I usually use a 12lb ball but I started with an 8lb.  I think I was just nervous.  I now bowl 2-3 times a week.  It was never an issue, but I did wait the 6 weeks before I started back bowling.  Good luck.
