Bone spur

Hi everyone, I just found out I have a bone spur on my left heel (painful) Looking at several treatment options. Has anyone ever had the low dose radiation treatment for this? Just wondering if it's an issue with the PM? Trying to avoid the surgery route. I'm 65 and this is the first time I have ever had one of these.

Radiation treatment

I'd never heard of radiation treatment for plantar fasciitis. Much of the information was about radiation treatment for bone cancer and some negative press. This is pretty normal when talking about podiatrist's remedies (no judgment).  However, I did find one article referencing a randomized trial that looks real.

To answer your question, no it won't affect your pacemaker.  The radation beam is focused tightly on the spur so won't affect affect anything anywhere near the pacemaker (or genitals). With any radiation there is a chance of cancer but this isn't the only radiation treatment in the world.

I have one in my hip, doctor said he could cut it out with a laser.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
