Will a dental tooth descaler affect a pacemaker?

Descaler

When I first started with my dentist I was asked for a cardiac clearance but they're still shy about my PM. The hygenist always does it manually. It's not that big of a deal as long as it's done regularly (three times a year for me).
not a problem

not a problem but because of past history and likely the lack of a volume of pacer patients, they will still ask about pre-medication (nope dont need it) and about the descaler, etc (not a problem).

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.

Geoff-you've had a device since 2018, so I would think you've been to the dentist in the last four years🧐
But, as a former dental office employee, I can say that most everything in the office is ok for anyone with newer devices. My Boston Scientific CRT-P is ok with all dental procedures. The older ones may be affected by the ultrasonic scalers the hygienist uses.
There is good info on the American Dental Association site:
A number of studies have shown some electronic dental devices may cause interference with implanted cardiac devices.
Newer cardiac devices are better shielded and may be less susceptible to interference.
Piezoelectric dental scalers may be safer than magnetostrictive models.
Electrosurgery devices have the highest potential of electromagnetic interference.
Proper use and distance are two important factors affecting risk of interference.

Just go! Tell them you have a pacemaker and they'll take it from there😁
You don't want me nagging you to take care of your teeth 🦷🪥
I was told not to see the dentist for the first six months after getting a pacemaker!
