After reading the cost of surgery etc. for a PM I got to wondering does it cost the same for a replacement? I have only had mine for 6 months but at the rate we are paying I won't have paid off my first one before I need a new one!

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
Cost of replacement

Hi Cottontop!
I had my PM replaced in April 07. The PM itself was $10,000 however, thank goodness the insurance adjusted that amount completely, so I didn't have to pay anything on that part. Gratitude!!!!!!!!!!! There were still doctor fees/hospital fees/PM tech fees/etc. Because of my insurance I ended up paying 80% of that so it was about $900 out of pocket for me.
I heard that if you talk to the hospital/dr about paying cash, they will give you a better deal? Can that be?
Anyway, I hope you are well. You were one of the ones that welcomed me when I joined the PM club. Your msg was warm and inviting and I am thankful for this site and great people like you.
Take Care!
