I had the pacemaker/defibulator put in on 7/3/07, since them it has been swollen and very painful, then I had to go back in because my incension busted open, they restitched it put me back on antibiotics, home health care. Now going on my 4th month its still swollen ans now I have a opening about 1inch long in my incision ang a bubble of blood. The doctor says he has never seen this before and does not know what step to take next. This is ugly painful and causes me pain. Does any one out there suffer from anything like this

I have never suffered anything like this either and I'm sorry you have to, I agree wit h the above post that a second opinion is in order. Maybe you have an infection that just isn't being addressed? Whatever it is you need to get this figured out. I hope that helps a little, I hope things work out for you and let us know.

Culture?

Hi and sorry for your problems. Has the Dr cultured your incision to determine what "bug" is causing your continued infection? Perhaps a different antibiotic would be in order as determined by the culture results. Could you be allergic to the sutures? I certainly agree with the first two posts, if your Dr is at a loss for what to do next (at least he/she is being honest) ask and get a second opinion. Sometimes just having another pair of eyes look and assess can bring the solution to your problem. Please keep all of us here at the club updated. Sincerely and best wishes for a speedy recovery. My pacemaker was installed in 1998 and I have not felt better. The mental part is the toughest.

Hi, Prasberry!
Well, I can't say that I have ever suffered from something like this...the only thing I have to offer is what about a second opinion? Maybe another doctor could help since yours can't. Is your doctor in a group of doctors? If so, has he consulted with any of them? Wish I had more support to give,,,please know that I am wishing you well.
Let us know how this turns out for you!
