hi people
what happens if during a angiogram they come across my wires and have to install stents.
do they install stents pushing wires into walls of viens or artieries and if so how does that effect future device changes or wires erviceing. or are the stents intstalled in another location away from all wires and device. thank for info. hope i wasn't to confusing.

Stents

Angiograms and stents go in through the arteries and don't go into the heart chambers themselves.
Do yourself a favor. Find a cardiologist who will go in through the radial artery in the wrist. It makes things a *LOT* easier. They just put a pressure cuff on your wrist, give you a schedule to release pressure on the cuff, then send you on your way. There is no need to lie on your back for hours waiting for the artery to heal enough to take the pressure. A tourniquet on the leg isn't a good idea.
arteries and veins

Arteries go away from the heart, veins go into the heart. Leads go in veins, stents go in arteries.
You know you're wired when...
You always have something close to your heart.

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
Angiogram

Hi Chip.
I am a former cardiac nurse and worked many years with heart patients, both prepping and recovering. Coronary angiograms are done by inserting thin tubes into an artery in the wrist or groin, then advanced to the heart and coronary arteries. Then dye is injected to look for narrowing and blockages. If the doc judges you to need stenting, are stents inserted, opened up with a balloon, smooshing them into the inside walls of the arteries. The balloon is deflated and removed. Your pacer wires are inserted in veins, so the angiogram will not effect them.
