CRT Pacemaker change

My Medtronic Consulta CTR pace maker is at the end of its life and is being replaced next week. My physicians office is being vague about the new model I will be getting (Good Canadian Health Care). They said I would be told on day of surgery.

I have A-fib and heart failure.  I'm wondering which newer CRT device I would be getting and how they transfer all the settings over.  My settings are a little different from the normal to help me walk/jog.

I also presume I will be given a new monitor to take home with me as well.

I just received my new Medtronic CRT earlier this year. The settings were copied over without issue, but as usual I had to go back to have them adjust my MTR twice. I didn't receive a monitor as mine uploads automatically via a phone APP

I'm curious about how you're feeling now that your CRT is at end of life since you're 100% dependent on it. Do you notice anything different?

I have an older style monitor that I place on the pacemaker monthly, then it transmits to the office.

I was running at 98% dependant until 2 months ago when it dropped to 93%, then a month later dropped tp 90%. Coincidentally I have had some other health issues that are possibly related to my heart. Definitely cannot exercise the way I used to and feeling way more tired too

Annie, good luck with the replacement device next week and I hope it has lots of useful new features to help with your Atrial Fibrillation and heart failure, both of which unfortunately can cause tiredness and difficulty with exercise.  A failing battery won’t be helping either, so hopefully you will feel so much better with the new device.  

Yes with a new CRT device, blue toothed enabled, I feel sure you will be able to use with a downloadable phone App instead of needing bulky hardware.   Your current ?monitor/reader sounds a bit like mine, clumsy and not always fit for purpose. 

My clinic has given me a new hand held reader that I place over my device, when required, that communicates directly with my smartphone to transmit data to my clinic.

My Medtronic pacemaker will be replaced in a few years.  My current pacemaker is not blue toothed enabled so my smartphone cannot communicate directly with my device, so I have needed a clumsy phone monitor and now a “reader” to transmit data.
