I have had several mammograms with my dual lead pacemaker.  Having mammograms aren't that comfortable even without a pacemaker, so it is important to let the technician know that you have a pacemaker before she starts scanning.  That way she will be extra careful when "positioning" you.

I see your implant was end November, last year.  By now you are well healed and the leads will be firmly in place, so there should be no risk to your leads, providing extra care is taken.

My device is placed just below the clavicle on the left, so well above breast tissue so my device doesn't distort scan views.  If they cannot get good clear views, they may follow up with an ultrasound or other imaging.

I too have had mammograms with a pacemaker.  I'm in the UK and therefore our medical system differs to yours, but I think I had to fill in a form declaring that I had a PM ??  I'd certainly make sure that your centre is aware. 

The care and consideration I was afforded during the mammogram was excellent. The pacemaker was located and great care was taken by a female mammographer to ensure that I was as comfortable as possible and safe. She could not have been kinder or more respectful.

It was explained that it would not be possible to view all tissue that could potentially be affected by breast cancer due to the presence of the pacemaker and that's probably the most important thing to note.

I have never liked the mammogram.  Now use Thermogram which unfortuantley is not covered for me by Medicare.  While having that part looked at , i also have them look at my whole body.  An this last time they found some locations that need looking at so when i see my GP in a couple of weeks .  Will ask for more tests.

I have had several mammograms and ultrasounds post pacemaker implant and so far no problems or pain. The first one was a few  months post PM and one and a half years post breast cancer treatment.  I let them know well in advance that I have a PM.   My PM is on the right side due to lymph node removal on left side. The report did state that positioning was limited on the right side due to the PM.

It is not going to hurt the leads, but it's possible if your pacer is new that it might make us sore. You've had yours long enough it should be fine. Just let them know. They deal with pacers all the time. 

Depending on your placement, they may want to do an ultrasound also. Sometimes the pacer blocks some of the view.
