I need a 65-70 year old Grandma to talk to about CHF (and have a debrillator/pacemaker). I feel all alone and have been diagnosed since Feb 2005 but was able to serve a mission for my church in Baltimore beginning in April 2006. I am serving in the mission office as the secretary to the President. I am able to keep up but always feel kind of blue and sad and have to fight that continually. I have a hard time concentrating so I don't talk much during the day. My husband tries to understand but I can't tell him how I feel and generally, he doesn't ask. I don't know what to expect. Please, someone?

Hi Viaola - I am a 67 y/o grandma with a pacemaker since May 2006. Though I do not have CHF or the defibrillator I want you to know that I understand you have questions and concerns. As Rusty said, this site has been her saving grace - same goes for me. The folks on here are some of the finest, most caring, loyal friends you will ever make. Though the majority of us will never meet face-to-face I consider them some of my best friends and they have supported me from the first day I signed on! I gained more information and knowledge about pacemakers in this club than I would ever hope to get from my physicians or other healthcare professionals. At this point I am an "old timer" so far as the pacemaker but sign on almost everyday just to see what is new with everyone. You will find that we all embrace a holistic approach to life and health. We have addressed problems totally unrelated to cardiac devices when one of our group has other issues. You will probably never find this anywhere else on the 'net. And, many of us are "faith-based" and you will find lots of prayers being said for everyone in the club! So glad you found us; you will find the answers here I am certain. Take care. I ask the Lord to hold you in the palm of His hand and give you peace.

I'm sorry for the tough times your going through. I'm not in the age group you mentioned and I'm not a grandma, but I do go to church and I was once a missionary. I'm glad you're looking for someone to talk with. It's important to voice your emotions and concerns and questions as you deal with this. This site has been my saving grace since I got my pm. Please let us know how your doing. The people here are some of the smartest and/or most encourageing you will ever find.
Take care friend,
Rusty

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.

Well, I'm not quite 65-70, but I am a grandma! There are many people on this site that are your friends. You are not alone...EVER! Tell us what you need, Vaiola. We are here for you. Are you scheduled to receive an ICD/pacemaker? You will be just fine! There are friends here that will help you through anything. Please take heart and know you are not alone.
