New generator on May 2, 2024

Hi alll!

Time for a new model change !  I have had a CRTD since 2015. The new one will be a Medtronic CRTD, MRI approved with all the bells and whistles!!🤣🤣🤣They said it should be piece of cake!  We shall see on Thursday!  All three of my wires are good, thank God for that!  Wish me luck!

Debbie, of course I wish you all the best for your replacement procedure on Thursday.  Hopefully it will be a "piece of cake".  You will certainly have all the latest technology with the new device and perhaps an improved longer battery life too.

I have yet to face a device change but since you have good functional leads already in place, the actual device change should be fairly straightforward.  They will only need to open the pocket, detach/disconnect the old device from the leads, then attach the new device to the leads and close the pocket, but I am sure you have been told what to expect?

Awesome that you're headed to a new device after a successful eight years with your present one! May God guide your team. My doc said it's a quick change and not a big deal when the leads are all functioning well!

MRI and leads

For the future, just double check that your leads are MRI compatible.  My current device is but my leads are not.

My EP said I can never have an MRI due to my leads.

Good luck for the device change, you'll be fine.

I wish you nothing but the very best!

I would wish you good luck, but you really do not need any! It really is a piece-of-cake! You will be in and out so fast that your head will be spinning! Just keep your incision clean and dry for a few weeks afterward.

It is like falling off a log. Have you ever done that? Trust me, nothing to it!

Enjoy your shiny new CRT.....

Sincerely,

Dave

Make the most of it

I'm sure you'll have a good excuse to steer clear of chores for a few weeks.

Remember how difficult it going to be to make afternoon tea and how important it is not to strain yourself shopping or putting the rubbish out or scratching your back.

You can dine out on it for months.

Good luck

You know you're wired when...

You have an excuse for gaining an extra ounce or two.
