Bras and protruding pacemaker

Over the past year, I've lost a significant amount of weight. My pacemaker is now protruding. Among other annoyances, it's very difficult to wear a bra now as the straps often get caught on it while I'm moving it's very irritating.

Anyone ever heard or had this problem? Wondering if a breast lift would be covered by insurance so I wouldn't have to wear anymore...

bra styles

The widest strap you can find is likely to rub the least, particularly if soft material covers the area. Sleep bras, cropped top type bra styles and sports bras are helpful.

As a point of interest, I was told when buying a strapless bra (which I usually find to be ineffective), that it is the band under the breast and support panels beneath the breast which provide the most support in bra design, rather than the straps. Long-line styles, which cover the ribs can be supportive too.

Trial and Error

Stacey, I have the same issue. I am a slender senior 5 months post PM. The site has healed but protrudes. I needed different bras immediately (I wish I had known), including still now at night. I have bought and donated many and still have a drawer full.  Front zip sports kind are the most comfortable because the straps are wide and soft. Unfortunately, I didn't know what would work without trying them. Thrifting has been helpful for new or like-new.

Something else I found about thin skin is the PM radiates cold when I go out on my deck for coffee on cool mornings.

What's worked for me

I did some research prior to my PM which was implanted 6 weeks ago.  I ended up choosing "Spanx" bras w/ front closures.  The straps for me are wide enought apart that they don't cross my incision.  As others have said, strapless is crap for support but in the very beginning when I had issues with an adhesive allergy and the entire area was inflamed, they did the job and allowed me to dress with some degree of "normalcy".

PS..  WRT to Breast Lifts - they are not permanent in terms of eventually your skin will once again stretch (thank you gravity!!!) and you'll havce boob-sag again, especially if you don't provide on-going support of some type.   Good luck and I hope you find a solution that works for you.

Constant Bra Issues

This has always been a struggle for me as well. My scars are always really sensitive so the straps always bother me, but luckily I am rather crafty so one thing that has helped me is making strap covers that are larger and softer. I know this isn't a very simple or easy solution but it is the only thing I have found that really works for me. I just make a tube using baby blanket fabric and some velcro. Wishing you the best!

Bras

My pacemaker protrudes and is very obvious, I am tiny and thin, and that doesn't help things - I recently bought a dress that has an open square neck. I had to have it taken in at a local tailor and did not realize how open the dress neckline was when buying or while getting adjusted. Was getting dressed for the wedding and noticed my pacemaker looking a bit like a giant unlit beacon near my left clavicle!  I did wear a strapless bra for comfort and also since the dress straps were thin. (Normally I wear the strap on my left side very loose so it doesn't annoy me or my pm.)

Nothing I could do at that point, just go to the wedding with this thing sticking out and hope nobody noticed!
