Hi all
I have always been 100% paced in my ventricle yet my atrium has been only about 30% paced. That recently changed to 71% and had been affecting my activity level and endurance when working out in the gym and hiking.
I went in for rate response to be turned on and after a month noticed no changes.
long story short the Medtronic rep recently changed my settings completely and it's been a huge help in my active lifestyle!
she told me she doesn't normally have this issue as most of her patients are in there 80s.
she said she recently helped a cyclist who was not having enough energy/endurance for his normal 10-15 mile daily bike rides. When she made these changes for him he said it was like night and day! So she wanted to try it for me if I was open to it!
what I know:
she had me lay on my left side , then right side, then flat on back, then sit up (all for 30 second spans while being able to see my HR) then I walked in the hall at a brisk pace for one minute straight.
she turned off the pacemake optimization and "told it what to do"
She kept my sensitivity at low/med as when I exercise my body will show movements (as with cycling not so much so his sensitivity will be turned up higher)
I know nothing else yet if anyone is interested as maybe they can then show to their reps or doctors (and it may benefit their lifestyle as well) I'd be happy to ask if I can get a print up.
these changes have made a huge difference for me the last two weeks! So happy
cheers!
Amy

Amy,
I would love to know what your settings are. I am having trouble getting this tweaked to my active lifestyle.

Well, that's good to hear.
Not so sure about "most of patients in their 80's" though.
I can see one problem in the UK which could be getting to see the rep. I could do with a bit of a boost at the moment.
