One of our friends told me the day after implant that i have to be careful with any lotions or ointments that I put on the skin. Is this true? Also my neck aches and usually I use "Ling Chi Tong Medicated Oil" to ease it. It works so well but i want to be sure that its safe with the pacemaker.
Is there any one in the Pacemaker club that knows anything about this. I would be very grateful to hear.

Also I would have no concerns about using your Chinese medicated oil to relieve discomfort in your neck if it works for you !
Drugs can be taken either ' systemically " ( by mouth or by injection ) OR " topically " ( applied to the skin ) . Having a pacemaker is totally irrelevant to either.

You can use anything you want if it's not over your scar.
Once the scar fully heals, you can use anything you want on it.
If you want to reduce scarring, keep it out of the sun for the first year or be extra diligent about sunscreen. I asked a plastic surgeon about reducing scarring, she said the main thing is to keep it moisturized and avoid anything artificial, no expensive fancy products needed. So, use things like cocoa butter, aloe, vitamin e, just check the label for preservatives and pick something with one ingredient.
Don't use anything at all directly over it for the first 4 weeks or so until it's fully healed so you don't risk infection.
