Blood Donation

Hi I am in Australia my pacemaker op-1 hr straight to ward dischared 24hrs back to work 2 weeks later-how soon can  I give blood-thanks

I can't think of any reason why not.

If you aren't on any additional medication and haven't had any big changes in blood pressure etc., you should be good to go.

Afterall, all your device is doing is restoring normal function.

As ever though, run it past your clinicians.

Check with your blood bank. They probably have a time limit after a surgery. Mine is just 24 hours for what they consider minor procedures. I donate every 8 weeks.

I have a pacemaker. Can I donate?

Usually, yes, but you’ll need to wait six months after getting your pacemaker. Please contact us to double check if you can donate.

It doesn't say anything else, but as TraceyE says, giving them a ring would be a good idea.
